JDM

JDM, or Japanese Domestic Market, are models of Japanese vehicles that were only offered in Japan.  They are rare and highly desirable to collectors once imported.  Though brands such as Nissan, Honda, Lexus, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, Suburu, and Toyota may be familiar to Americans, JDM models often differ significantly from their counterparts intended for markets such as the US.  This is in part because innovation and new technology from Japanese automakers has usually been introduced and perfected first in JDM vehicles.  JDM vehicles tend to be smaller, right-hand-drive, and lower horsepower than American-made performance vehicles, but they are often tuned and modified to excel at acceleration and handling rather than straight-line performance.
